The aim of the BeTeq conferences is to promote international co-operation between scientists and engineers from different disciplines involved in the study and development of the Boundary Element Techniques. As reflected by this special issue, BeTeq 2017 attracted researchers working in the fields of solid and fluid Mechanics, whilst the papers presented during the conference were devoted to theoretical and/or numerical aspects of the method.

The Guest Editors of this Special Issue kindly acknowledge the Editor-in-Chief of European Journal of Computational Mechanics for hosting in the present issue eight papers presented at BeTeq 2017.
