A Propos D’Un Cas Atypique De Meningo Encephalite Grippale

Summary

A case of acute influenzal meningo-encephalitis is described. Its influenzal origin was demonstrated serologically. The psychic symptomatology was very peculiar and could be divided into three stages : ambulatory automatism, excito-subconfusion, maniac episode. The neurologic and meningeal signs are discrete and transient. The clinical evolution suggests a cerebral lesion directly due to the neurotropic influenza virus. The psychic symptomatology, the fugacity of the meningeal and neurologic signs and the spontaneous cure without sequellae depict the benignity of the case.

Description d’une méningo-encéphalite aiguë atypique dont l’origine grippale est démontrée sérologiquement. La symptomatologie psychique est particulière. Elle se décompose en trois phases : automatisme ambulatoire, syndrome excito-subconfusionnel, épisode maniaque. La symptomatologie neurologique et méningée d’accompagnement est discrète et fugace. Les caractères de l’évolution clinique suggèrent une atteinte directe de l’encéphale par un virus grippal neurotrope. Les caractères particuliers de la symptomatologie psychique, la fugacité des signes focaux et méningés, la guérison sans séquelles sont démonstratifs de la bénignité de ce cas.

Beschrijving van een acute atypische meningo-encephalitis waarvan de virale oorsprong, serologisch aangetoond werd. De psychische symptomatologie is kenmerkend. Ze bestaat uit drie fasen : ambulatoir automatisme, een excitosubconfusionneel syndroom, een manische episode. De begeleidende meningiale en psychische symptomatologie is discreet en vluchtig. De klinische evolutie suggereert een directe aantasting van het encephalon door een neurotroop griepvirus. De speciale kenmerken van de psychische symptomatologie, de vluchtigheid van de focale en meningiale tekens en de genezing zonder sekwellen, bewijzen de goedaardigheid van deze gevallen.
