Summary
1. The effects of the oral administration of 4 × 20 mg propranolol daily on the mortality and course of the acute stage of myocardial infarction have been studied.
2. The death rate and incidence of arrhythmias was identical in the propranolol treated group and control group.
3. It is suggested that the incidence of heart failure and 2nd or 3rd degree atrioventricular after the 1st day is higher during propranolol treatment.

1. L’influence du propranolol (4 × 20 mg par jour) sur la mortalité et l’évolution de l’infarctus aigu du myocarde a été étudiée.
2. Ni la mortalité ni l’incidence d’arythmies ne sont sensiblement différentes dans les deux groupes de malades : ceux traités par le propranolol et ceux dans le groupe de contrôle.

1. De invloed van perorale toediening van propranolol in een dosis van 4 × 20 mg per dag op de mortaliteit en het verloop van akuut myocardinfarkt werd nagegaan.
2. De mortaliteit en het voorkomen van aritmieën is nagenoeg identiek in een groep behandelde patiënten en in een kontrole reeks.
3. De incidentie van decompensate cordis en atrioventricular block neemt vermoedelijk toe gedurende toediening van propranolol.
