Polychemotherapie Bij Veralgemeende Vorm Van Ziekte Van Hodgkin

Summary

Thirty patients with generalized Hodgkin’s disease were treated with a combination of Mustine, vinblastine and procarbazine. Prednisolone was added only for symptomatic reasons. After six courses a maintenance treatment with vinblastine alone was given for two years. In 16 out of 21 patients who had previously received no treatment or only radiotherapy, a complete remission was obtained (76%).

Where monochemotherapy had already been given, the results of the combination treatment were clearly inferior. All patients with a complete remission have been free of signs of disease for periods ranging from 3 to 40 months. Although leukopenia is frequent, toxicity was not a major problem.

Résumé

Trente cas de maladie de Hodgkin généralisée ont été soumis pendant six mois à une polychimiothérapie, comportant six cures de l’association: Mustine (HN₂), vinblastine et procarbazine, suivie d’un traitement d’entretien par la vinblastine pendant 2 ans. 76% de remissions complètes sont obtenues chez les cas nouveaux et les malades traités antérieurement par la radiothérapie (16/21). Par contre, dans les cas déjà traités par une monochimiothérapie les résultats sont très médiocres. Toutes les remissions complètes persistent depuis une période variant de 3 à 40 mois.

Samenvatting

Een polychemotherapie met Mustine, Velbe en Natulan werd aan dertig patiënten met veralgemeende vorm van ziekte van Hodgkin toegediend. Na zes kuren volgt een twee jaar durende onderhoudsbehandeling met Velbe. Bij de nieuwe gevallen en bij de groep met voorafgaande radiotherapie (samen 21 patiënten) werden 76% totale remissies bekomen. Na voorafgaande monochemotherapie zijn de resultaten daarentegen zeer discreet. De totale remissie duurt momenteel bij alle adekwaat behandelde gevallen nog voort na een periode van drie tot veertig maanden, ook bij de zes gevallen die intussen de onderhoudsperiode voorbij zijn.
