Deirdre Byrne

Deirdre Byrne is a Professor of English Studies and the Head of the Institute for Gender Studies at Unisa. She is the editor of scrutiny2: issues in english studies in southern africa and one of the co-authors of Foundations in English literary studies (published by Oxford University Press). She has published articles on the writing of Ursula K le Guin; science fiction and fantasy; gender and identity theory; and subversive strategies in South African women's poetry.
