Denise Newfield

PROFESSOR DENISE NEWFIELD was an English teacher educator at the University of the Witwatersrand for many years and presently holds the position of honorary research associate. She is director of ZAPP, the South African Poetry Project. Her special interests are multimodality, multiliteracies, posthumanism, and poetry in education, particularly in contexts of disadvantage. Her recent publications include Multimodal approaches to research and pedagogy (with Arlene Archer) and ‘Reconceptualising poetry as a multimodal genre’ (with Raphael d’Abdon).
