Abstract
Richard Tinning's latest offering is not one concerned with the ‘how to’ of teaching, but rather it aims to explore the nature and purpose of pedagogies employed in the eclectic field of Human Movement Studies (HMS). Whilst terms such as ‘epistemological’ tend to leave undergraduate students quaking, what Tinning does well is clearly define and contextualise such terms without detracting from the broader focus of the discussion. Throughout the course of the text, Tinning discusses the process of pedagogy in a number of contexts and examines its intersections with physical activity, the body, health and research. The text is therefore valuable for a range of HMS professionals, including undergraduate and post-graduate students, pre-service teachers and early career researchers.
