Phonon Spectrum and Thermal Neutron Scattering in Light Water Ice

Abstract

The phonon spectrum of light water ice at 0°C is computed by the root sampling method for a sampling of 1,050 points in an irreducible sampling region of the first Brillouin zone.

The scattering law for thermal neutron scattering in hexagonal ice is also calculated and found to agree well with reported experimental values.
