Letters to the Gay Medical Student Alliance

Pages 235-246 | Published online: 11 Apr 2013

Abstract

The author is a psychiatrist and founder of the Gay Medical Student Alliance (GMSA). The GMSA, formed in 1973 while the author was a medical student, provided support and information to gay and lesbian medical students. Letters were sent to GMSA by students around the United States and abroad following a New York City newspaper advertisement and media attention. These letters add to the historical record of that period in gay history.

Notes

Let stand a decision sustaining the dismissal of a Maryland school teacher on the grounds that he did not list membership in a homosexual organization among his college extracurricular activities on his application (Acanfora v. Board of Education). Publication and date unknown.
