An interview with Ronald E. Hellman, MD

Abstract

Ronald E Hellman, MD is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. Before his formal retirement in 2017, he was Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine where he worked in the Institute for Advanced Medicine, Center for Transgender Medicine & Surgery. Previously, he was Director of the LGBT Affirmative Program at South Beach Psychiatric Center, founding this public sector psychiatric service in New York State for LGBT individuals with major mental illness. He is currently an associate editor at the Journal of Gay & Lesbian Mental Health.
