We, the Editor and Publishers of the Journal of Dietary Supplements have retracted the following article:
The Novel Effects of a Hydrolyzed Polysaccharide Dietary Supplement on Immune, Hepatic, and Renal Function in Adults with HIV in a Randomized, Double-Blind Placebo-Control Trial, John E. Lewis PhD, Steven E. Atlas BSN, Muhammad H. Abbas MD, Ammar Rasul MD, Ashar Farooqi MD, Laura A. Lantigua BS, Frederick Michaud BS, Sharon Goldberg MD, Lucas C. Lages BS, Oscar L. Higuera MD, Andrea Fiallo MD, Eduard Tiozzo PhD, Judi M. Woolger MD, Stephanie Ciraula BS, Armando Mendez PhD, Allan Rodriguez MD & Janet Konefal PhD, Journal of Dietary Supplements, 2019, DOI: 10.1080/19390211.2018.1494661
After a detailed review by the Editor, we have decided to retract this article due to a legal dispute concerning the Morisky Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS-8) which was adapted for use in this article.
The Editor and the Publisher would like to stress that the retraction of this article is not due to any misconduct on the part of the authors. The retraction relates only to the portion of the article that references the MMAS-8 scale. The elimination of the scale does not alter the conclusions of the study.
We have been informed in our decision-making by the guidance of COPE guidelines on retractions.
The retracted article will remain online to maintain the scholarly record, but it will be digitally watermarked on each page as “Retracted”.
The Journal of Dietary Supplements will publish a revised version of the paper that does not contain the scale or any references to it. The revised version of the article can be found here: https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/19390211.2019.1619010.
