Corey Haim and the ‘homeless celebrity’: rock bottom on Rodeo Drive

Pages 241-244 | Received 20 Dec 2012, Accepted 21 Apr 2013, Published online: 25 Jul 2013

Abstract

This article explores the seemingly oxymoronic figure of the homeless celebrity through a case study of ex-child star Corey Haim. It argues that the homeless celebrity demands a reconsideration of the traditional coupling of ‘fame’ and ‘fortune’ in light of what Graeme Turner has dubbed celebrity's ‘demotic turn’.
