Sophia L. Deboick

Sophia L. Deboick is a historian of religion and popular culture. Her PhD research, completed at the University of Liverpool, used unpublished sources from convent archives to examine the visual and commercial promotion of the cult of Thérèse of Lisieux, ‘the greatest saint of modern times’, in early twentieth-century France. As a freelance writer, Dr Deboick has had work published on the contemporary Catholic Church and popular religion, as well as on fan cults and pilgrimage in both the sacred and secular contexts of Catholicism and popular music.
