Notes

1. Dunham’s insertion of herself into the Time’s Up PR photoshop led co-organiser of the initiative, Tessa Thompson, to publicly condemn Dunham’s behaviour .While toning down her criticism in a later post, Thompson tellingly added: ‘The truth remains: many women, particularly women of color, don’t feel safe and seen. To those women, like Aurora Perrineau – I see you. I am with you’ (Smidt Citation2018). Thompson’s statement, unlike Dunham’s censuring, attempts to bear witness to Perrineau’s trauma and narrative.
