When the above article was first published online on 9 January 2013, the word ‘concept’ was omitted in the first sentence of the Introduction. The sentence should read as follows: ‘Since the pro-poor tourism (PPT) concept emerged in the 1990s, it has captured considerable attention of both tourism scholars and practitioners (see, e.g. Ashley, Roe, & Goodwin, 2001; Goodwin, 2009; Harrison, 2008 for discussions of the emergence, definition, and key features of PPT).' This has now been corrected online.
