The annual incidence of sudden death in patients who have hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is estimated to be 6% in young adults and 1% in the elderly. Because there is no cure for this disease, it is important to determir the patient’s risk factors and provide appropriate treatment and counselint In this article, Drs DeLuca and Tak provide invaluable information about risk stratification and offer therapeutic options for monitoring disease and alleviating symptoms.
