RELATIONS BETWEEN CLOTH, YARN AND FIBRE PROPERTIES WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO BLENDED CLOTHS

Abstract

Square plain-weave cloths have been woven from yarns spun from a variety of two-component fibre blends. The fibres, yarns and fabrics have been subjected to a range of physical tests, and the inter-relations between fibre, yarn and fabric properties have been studied and are presented in tabular form.

Six properties are discussed in detail, namely, the snarling behaviour of yarns, yarn strength and packing density, and the stiffness, crease-recovery, and tearing strength of cloth.
