Discussion

Pages 137-141 | Published online: 23 Aug 2010

Notes

Since this paper was presented, the author has studied an additional 3,002 married women admitted in 1936–45, with a total of 9,067 children. The fertility in marriage was found to be 78.3 per cent of normal, which indicates that the difference between the insane and the general population shows a decreasing trend. The relation of schizophrenia to manic‐depression was the same as in 1946–55, the figures for fertility in marriage being 90.2 and 80.2, respectively.
