Comportement mécanique au triaxial d'un mâchefer d'incinération d'ordures ménagères

ABSTRACT

MSWI bottom ashes constitute particular granular materials because these industrial by-products are the results from the incineration of domestic waste. The field of beneficial use of these waste mainly lies in the road engineering today, like materials of substitution for the traditional natural aggregates, which are usually used in this field. For this reason, the characterisation of the mechanical behaviour of the material—which is currently little developed—proves to be essential in order to perennalize this field of beneficial use, assuring thus the transition “waste MSWI”/“material MSWI”. This paper presents a first approach of the mechanical behaviour under shear triaxial tests. A special methodology is investigated for the realisation of tests, because of the origin and the specificity of the MSWI bottom ash. The analysis of the mechanical behaviour shows a mechanical behaviour similar to the classic granular materials initially dense.

RÉSUMÉ

Les mâchefers d'incinération d'ordures ménagères (MIOM) constituent des matériaux granulaires atypiques, puisque ces sous-produits industriels sont issus de la combustion des déchets ménagers. La filière de valorisation de ces déchets s'inscrit essentiellement aujourd'hui en technique routière, en tant que matériaux de substitution aux graves naturelles classiquement utilisées dans ce domaine. A ce titre, la caractérisation du comportement mécanique du matériau pour ce champ d'application—qui demeure actuellement peu développé—s'avère indispensable si l'on souhaite pérenniser cette filière de valorisation, assurant ainsi la transition « déchet »/« matériau ». Ce papier présente une première approche du comportement mécanique du matériau granulaire sous sollicitations triaxiales de cisaillement. Une méthodologie spécifique est mise en place pour la faisabilité des tests du fait de l'origine et de la spécificité du mâchefer. L'analyse du comportement mécanique rend compte de similitudes de comportement avec les matériaux granulaires classiques initialement denses.
