Message from the Editors: a year in review

&

This year has been another very successful one for the International Journal of Developmental Disabilities (IJDD), with the journal going from strength to strength. A highlight of this year was the journal being awarded its’ highest impact factor to date. A part of this success was due to the rapid publication of papers on practical issues about how to deal with the effects of COVID and the lockdown specifically for those with intellectual disabilities and their families. We are proud of our various authors’ contributions to the global challenge that came with this pandemic as well as of the invaluable practical guidance that papers published in the IJDD typically provide. This year saw papers published in the IJDD being included in PubMed, the searchable database accessing primarily MEDLINE as well as abstracts on life sciences and biomedical topics. Other highlights included the continued publication of 6 issues per year that started in 2021, together with an increase in the number of accepted papers that were already online, also appearing in print. We aim to continue to make progress in this area in the coming year. Next year we shall also be further strengthening our Editorial Board by appointing two Associate Editors. In keeping with past years, we have appointed guest editors for this year’s special issue (‘Positive Behaviour Support: Moving Toward a Human Rights Based Model of Support’ edited by Umesh Sharma, Erin Leif, Pearl Subban and Russell Fox), which is now complete but will be held over so it will be published in the first issue of 2023 (volume 69, issue 1), to tie in with a meeting on this subject next February. We thank all the authors, reviewers, editorial board members and the British Society of Developmental Disabilities as well as our colleagues and support staff at Taylor & Francis as we look forward to another successful year.
