See Rawls (Citation2005b, 18): Rawls narrowly defines a person as “someone who can be a citizen, that is, a normal and fully cooperating member of society over a complete life.” Also see pp. 21 and 244ff., where Rawls hints that his conception of justice as fairness cannot be “extended to our relations to animals and the order of nature.”
