An Approach to Pulmonary Infection in AIDS

Pages 196-204 | Published online: 17 May 2016

Abstract

In AIDS patients, multiple simultaneous infections, many of which are unresponsive to therapy, are the rule. For rapid diagnosis and institution of treatment, close collaboration between the physician and the various clinical laboratories—e.g., pathology, parasitology—is a must. A standard protocol should be established for the utilization of biopsy, aspirate, and stool specimens.
