ABSTRACT

This article presents a simple and efficient approach for the placement of multiple Distributed Generators (DG) in a radial distribution system. The approach determines the optimal locations and size of DGs with the objective of improving the voltage profile and loss reduction. Loss sensitivity factors (LSF) are used to select the candidate locations for the multiple DG placements and Simulated Annealing (SA) is used to estimate the optimal size of DGs at the optimal locations determined. The proposed method is applied to the 33bus and 69bus radial distribution systems. The solutions obtained by the proposed method are compared with other existing methods. The proposed method has outperformed the other methods in terms of the quality of solution.
