Reshaping the ongoing world: A review of the 12th World Social Forum

Pages 255-263 | Published online: 25 May 2012

Abstract

The 12th World Social Forum focused on two major topics. The first was the recession in the United States and the crisis in the European continent. The second was the struggles and movements of organizations that aimed at sustainable development and that had evolved around the environmental protection and the respect of different social groups, particularly the disadvantaged. With the central theme of ‘Capitalist crisis, social and environmental justice’, the forum intended to lay the foundation for a people's summit meeting about social movement.
