ABSTRACT

The World Cultural Forum, as a high-level platform for dialogue, was initiated by thinkers from various fields with both macro and micro visions. Paying close attention to cultural progressiveness and diversity across the world, this forum is an attempt to explore challenges that confront China and the world in terms of cultural development, enhance cross-cultural understanding and cooperation, and promote the development of the cultural cause of the entire human race. The Second World Cultural Forum was held on October 16, 2017, at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Beijing, China, with the theme of “Cultural Diversity in the World and Socialist Culture with Chinese Characteristics,” and attracted 200 scholars from over 10 different countries around the world. After the one-day presentations and discussion, the statement of the Second World Cultural Forum was formed and agreed upon by all the participants present.
