China and the Contemporary World: A Summary of the Second World Congress on Marxism

ABSTRACT

On May 5, 2018, the 200th anniversary of Karl Marx’s birth, the Second World Congress on Marxism was held at Peking University. The congress covered five main topics: financial capital and the crisis of capitalism in the modern world; the dysfunction of neoliberal ideology and politics; the contemporary value of Marxism; the evaluation of and perspectives for Socialism with Chinese Characteristics; and the work of the compilation and research center The Documents of Marxism. Distinguished scholars from more than 30 countries contributed their views at the congress.
