William H. Sewell
William H. Sewell Jr. ([email protected]) is the Frank P. Hixon Distinguished Service Professor Emeritus of Political Science and History at the University of Chicago. He is the author of Logics of History: Social Theory and Social Transformation (University of Chicago Press, 2004), and three other books. He is currently working on a book about how eighteenth-century French capitalism helped to make thinkable a political regime based on civic equality of the sort that was established in the Revolution of 1789.
