Interventions introduction

‘… to critically intervene in a way that challenges and changes’

bell hooks (Citation1997, 12)

This journal aims to encourage the study of ‘security’ in and through social critique and to publish theoretically informed scholarship that engages with the practice and politics of security.

In keeping with these aims, the Interventions section publishes shorter pieces (between 1000 and 2000 words) that explore ‘security’ from a range of theoretical perspectives. Interventions pieces may take any of the following forms:

  • reviews or media analysis (book, tv series, films, art exhibitions, photography etc.);

  • engagements with pedagogy or learning and teaching in security;

  • comments on current events;

  • interviews (with academics, policy-makers, policy-advisors, activists etc);

  • fiction, poetry, or creative writing;

  • short essays on topics or debates of contemporary relevance to the study of security.

This list is not exhaustive and if you have a contribution that you think would be suitable for publication in Interventions, please contact the section editor, Laura J. Shepherd, to discuss it. We are happy to consider up to 8000 words worth of material as a themed Interventions section.

Please submit contributions as Word documents by email to [email protected]. All submissions will be peer-reviewed.

Full ‘Instructions for authors’ can be found under the ‘Authors and submissions’ tab on the journal website at: http://www.tandfonline.com/rcss.
