Alessandro Sette

About Dr. Sette. Alessandro Sette is Head of Division of Vaccine Discovery at La Jolla Institute for Allergy and Immunology. He received a Doctor in Biological Science Degree from University of Rome and postdoctoral training at National Jewish Hospital in Denver in the lab of Howard Grey. He played a key role in the pioneering research on the Major Histocompatibility Complex, its peptide specificity and interactions with T-cell receptors. Dr. Sette has co-authored almost 700 articles and book chapters in the field, and holds nearly 30 patents. His extensive activity in industry includes founding the biotech company Epimmune in 1997. He has received numerous honors and awards, such as the American Association of Immunologists Investigator Award (1995), top 100-cited Immunology investigators in the period 1981–2000, and International Immunomics and Immmunogenics Society Award (2006).
