Dear reader,

This issue of Human Vaccines & Immunotherapeutics starts with a section on the novel Coronavirus, which includes an analysis of YouTube coverage of vaccine development (Basch, p 2582) and four commentaries discussing the role of social media in vaccine hesitancy with respect to the pandemic (Puri, p 2586), the impact on current vaccination programs (Ali, p 2594), therapy with convalescent plasma (Han, p 2601), and the promises and challenges of COVID-19 vaccine development (Chen, p 2604).

The Licensed Vaccines segment features two reviews on pertussis in high-risk groups (Jenkins, p 2609) and measles among Italian healthcare workers (Baccolini, p 2618), assessment of reactogenicity of one and two doses of the adjuvanted recombinant zoster vaccine (Colindres, p 2628), an immunogenicity and safety clinical trial of a varicella vaccine administered with MMR vaccine (Silas, p 2634), a Phase 2 trial of a Sabin strain inactivated polio vaccine (Tang, p 2641), analysis of mumps-specific antibody persistence in fully vaccinated adults (Bianchi, p 2649), a report on rubella seroprevalence in a South African surveillance program (Motaze, p 2656), a study of determinants of vaccine uptake among Greek healthcare workers (Vrachnaki, p 2663), examination of sero-epidemiology of tetanus in China (Xu, p 2670), and a commentary on dengue vaccine development (Plotkin, p 2677).

We present five articles on Influenza, including a systematic review on vaccine immunogenicity in the elderly (Meng, p 2680), antigenicity prediction of H3N2 virus using neural networks (Lee, p 2690), a survey of vaccine attitudes and practices among Dutch GPs (Verhees, p 2709), a preclinical study of a novel quadrivalent subunit vaccine (Ye, p 2719), and immune response profiling in subjects with atopic dermatitis (Jalbert, p 2727).

Three research articles on HPV report on an intervention into providers’ vaccine-related communication (Perkins, p 2736), vaccine hesitancy among Italian parents (Della Polla, p 2744), and the impact of health education on Japanese teachers’ intention to recommend vaccination (Ishiwada, p 2752).

The Pneumococcal section introduces a review of safety and immunogenicity of PCV-13 in immunocompromised subjects (Chilson, p 2758), serotype profiles in invasive disease cases in Turkey (Ceyhan, p 2773), and a Letter to the Editor on severe suppurative otitis media in fully vaccinated infants (Kanik-Yüksek, p 2779).

Two Meningococcal articles review infection among refugees (Dinleyici, p 2781) and report on a case of serogroup W meningococcemia in a patient with infantile nephropathic cystinosis (Bozan, p 2787).

The Acceptance section investigates attitudes to maternal vaccination among Canadian maternity care providers (Dube, p 2789), the attitudes of clergymen towards vaccines (Williams, p 2800), and the impact of educational intervention on physicians’ practice (Kawczak, p 2809).

We introduce a review of long-term immunogenicity of Hepatitis A vaccination (Shah, p 2816) and a study on hepatitis B booster vaccination (Qiu, p 2822).

Two articles on Immunotherapy examine bispecific antibodies for cancer treatment (Gupta, p 2831) and a DC-immunization approach for glioblastoma (Kim, p 2840).

The Novel Vaccines section presents a preclinical trial of a novel adjuvanted Helicobacter pylori vaccine (Chen, p 2849) and a commentary on the need for the development of vaccines against Sudan Ebolavirus and Marburg virus (Wolfe, p 2855).

This issue of HV&I concludes with a review of safety and immunogenicity of Rotavirus vaccines co-administered with meningococcal conjugate vaccines (Pereira, p 2861), and a presentation of a Public Health framework for vaccine procurement in Spain (Zozaya, p 2873).

Our monthly News, Policy and Profiles (NP&P) track offers a selection of the latest news in the field of vaccines and immunotherapeutics. In this section we also regularly publish opinion pieces on timely, interesting and controversial topics related to vaccines and immunotherapeutics, profiles of companies and organizations, as well as portraits of distinguished scientists in our field.
