Public Participation and Cooperative Movement for Social Welfare

Abstract

The author examines the benefits and limitations of public participation in enhancing social welfare by illustrating the achievements and problems faced by the Cooperative Movement. He discusses the social, economic, educational and political benefits in utilising the combined effort of the local community as compared to the intervention of official agencies.
