Abstract

Using concepts derived from North American studies, the present study develops a model to investigate the contributions of various factors to the life satisfaction of single Chinese parents in Hong Kong. Findings of the path analysis indicate that Household Income, and Time Sufficiency in Childcare positively predict Life Satisfaction of single parents. Perceived Difficulty in Childcare negatively predicts Life Satisfaction. Employment, however, has both positive arid negative effects on Life Satisfaction. Implications for assisting single parents are discussed.
