Pages 67-85 | Published online: 25 Apr 2012

Abstract

Therapeutic intervention by social workers and other health professionals with individuals affected by disaster and trauma are reviewed. A rationale for the integration of strengths approaches is presented, and strengths-based community recovery interventions are suggested. Brief case examples are used to illustrate social work interventions at various levels in recent disasters and emergencies.
