Pages 43-55 | Published online: 25 Apr 2012

Abstract

This paper describes various issues, challenges, and tensions occurring in indigenization of social work in different parts of the world. The writer conceptualizes a tri-dimensional model of indigenization that includes universality and specificity, dominance and minority, as well as tradition and present situations. The model may be used in locating, interpreting, and applying indigenization in various social, cultural, and political contexts.
