ABSTRACT

This Classics Revisited section explores Sir William Gull’s 1873 paper ‘Anorexia Nervosa (Apepsia Hysterica, Anorexia Hysterica)’, which marked one of the the initial conceptualisations of modern understandings of Anorexia Nervosa. The influence of this seminal work on current research, theory and practice is explored, followed by a consideration of what we can continue to learn from Gull as we progress in the eating disorder field.
