SUMMARY
The chromosom numbers Lepidoptera Rhopalocera of Central America and Columbia
In this work are stated the chromosomes numbers of 61 species of Rhopalocera from Central America and Columbia; 50 of these numbers are given for the first time, the others agreeing with those already observed.
Amongst the newly stated numbers, we can state:
(1)a perfect concordance with those already observed in the same neotropical genera, tribes and subfamilies (modal number),
(2)that, in the Satyridae, the chromosomes numbers are very various, sometime in the same species. In this last case, they seem to have either a broadly geographical character (for instance the two slopes of the Andes Cordillera) or, on the contrary, a narrowly local one.
