Summary
Cavariella (Cavaraiellia) aquatica Gill. & Bragg previously known as Aspidaphis aquatica lives in North America on the hydrophilous grass Catabrosa aquatica. Specimens of the same species collected on its primary host (Salix) were described as Cavariella hillerislambersi Oss. from Europe. Comparison of european and asiatic specimens collected from Salix and on various secondary hosts, with new world specimens shows the identity of the two species, as suspected by Narzikulov (1968). Original descriptions of the male and oviparous female are given. Similarities between Cavariella aquatica and Cavariella longicauda Richards, n. comb., are discussed.
