Les Relations Araceae-Drosophilidae. Drosophila Aracea une Espèce Anthophile Associée à L'aracée Xanthosoma Robustum au Mexique (Diptera: Drosophilidae)

Résumé

Drosophila aracea n'appartient à aucun groupe du sous-genre Drosophila. Ses genitalia, mâles et femelles, ainsi que quelques caractères des stades préimaginaux sont figurés pour la première fois. Le spadice et le développement de l'inflorescence de l'Aracée Xanthosoma robustum, endémique en Amérique Centrale, sont décrits. La ponte de Drosophila aracea a lieu dans la partie du spadice occupée par les fleurs femelles où se déroule le développement des stades préimaginaux de la drosophile, la pupaison ayant lieu dans le sol. Les interactions D. aracea — X. robustum sont étudiées et comparées avec celles de Colocasiomyia — Araceae des régions orientale et australasienne. D. aracea ne possède qu'une seule des caractéristiques des Drosophiles anthophiles strictes. L'hypothèse d'une différenciation récente à partir d'un ancêtre généraliste est avancée. Une mise au point sur nos connaissances concernant les relations Araceae — Drosophilidae a également été esquissée.

Summary

The relations Araceae — Drosophilidae. The anthophilic Drosophila aracea and its host-plant Xanthosoma robustum in Mexico (Diptera: Drosophilidae). — Drosophila aracea belongs to the subgenus Drosophila but assigning it to any species group is still questionable. Its male and female genitalia and some characters of the preimaginal stages are figured for the first time. Xanthosoma robustum (Araceae) is endemic to Central America, its spadix and the development of the inflorescence are described. The eggs of Drosophila aracea are layed in the spadix, on the female flowers, in which the preimaginal instars of the fly develop; pupation takes place in the ground. The interaction D. aracea — Xanthosoma robustum are studied and compared with the interaction Colocasiomyia — Araceae of the oriental and australasian regions. D. aracea presents only one of the characteristics of a strict anthophilie Drosophila. The assumption is made that it is possibly a species that has recently arisen from a generalist ancestor. A review of our present knowledge on the relation Araceae-Drosophilidae has also been sketched.
