Squelette et Musculature Thoraciques des Protoures

Résumé

L'étude du système squeletto-musculaire de deux espèces, Eosentomon transitorium et Acerentomon affine, représentant les 2 sous-ordres de Protoures, et sa comparaison avec celui des autres Hexapodes aptérygotes aboutit aux conclusions suivantes. Le thorax montre des caractères primitifs: absence d'ailes, sternites dépourvus de spina et de furca, persistance de deux arcs subcoxaux bien individualisés, endosternites conjonctifs présents, nombre élevé de muscles et présence de muscles intersegmentaires. Au niveau du prothorax, l'endosquelette est fragmenté et la musculature appendiculaire modifiée, à la suite du déplacement des pattes qui jouent le rôle des antennes.

Abstract

Thoracic skeleton and musculature of Protura. — The study of the endoskeletic and muscular systems of two species, Eosentomon transitorium and Acerentomon affine, belonging to the 2 proturan suborders, and the comparison with other apterygotan hexapods leads to the following conclusions. The thorax is close to the ancestral pattern and shows primitive characteristics: absence of wings, sternites without spina and furca, presence of well recognizable two sub-coxal half-rings, connective endosternites, many muscles and presence of intersegmental muscles. In the prothorax the endoskeleton and the musculature are modified, consequently to the fact that the forelegs have taken the role of the absent antennae.
