Hearing balance and communication jubilees exponents of the “twenties”: Dagobert Schwabach (1846–1920) and his tuning fork test

Abstract

Purpose: To honour the 100 year death jubilee of Dagobert Schwabach (1846–1920), and his eponymly named tuning fork test.

Method: We will present original documentation and historical references.

Result: After a biography of Schwabach, a paragraph will present the original description of the test, followed by another paragraph discussing its acceptation by his colleagues.

Conclusion: Schwabach published numerous articles on hearing tests, deaf mutism and statistisc of deaf mutism, collecting many cases of otological interest.
