Abstract

The present study aimed at assessing the phenolic content, and antioxidant activity of the different organs of Cakile maritimum (leaves, seeds and stems). The analyzed organs exhibited different content of total polyphenol (43.68 ± 0.42 to 30.18 ± 0.16 mg GAE g -1 DW) flavonoids (37.13 ± 0.5 to 16.23 ± 0.89 mg EC g -1DW) and tannins (14.94 ± 0.04 to 8.38 ± 0.03 mg CE g -1 DW). However, seeds extracts displayed the highest DPPH· scavenging ability with the lowest IC50 value (0.243 ± 0.04 mg/ml) and also exhibited the most important antioxidant potentiel with the ATSB test.
