Abstract
The hydro-distilled essential oils obtained from fresh and air dried Salvia verbenaca L. growing wild in Jordan have been investigated using GC-MS. The essential oil of fresh S. verbenaca was mainly composed of oxygenated monotperpenes (61.32 %) that were represented only by the monoterpene alcohol linalool. The essential oil obtained from the air dried plant was dominated by sesquiterpene hydrocarbons (62.66 %) with the major component germacrene D (25.92 %).
