Proposal of a proactive logistics platform piloted by the product

ABSTRACT

The performance of a logistics platform is related to its proactivity. This objective is achieved by using the concept of a product-driven system. This architecture considers the product as an actor able to make decisions affecting its life cycle. This makes the piloting system proactive and capable of eliminating any risk of problems. The authors demonstrate in this paper that, for a proactive logistics platform, it is necessary to implement control by a smart product in two main processes: a procurement or replenishment process and order grouping process. To achieve this goal, the authors propose the integration of an infotronic technology carried by product, which makes the product smart and able to control its input and output from the platform. The proposed solution is modeled by Business Process Model and Notation 2.0 and simulated with TIBCO BUSINESS STUDIO. As a result, the authors optimized the costs and cycle times of a logistics platform after the integration of radio-frequency identification.

Najlae Alfathi

Najlae Alfathi is a PhD student at the laboratory of innovative technologies, National School of Applied Sciences, Abdelmalek Essaadi University. Her research interests include Industrial Logistics, Industry 4.0, and the proactivity of supply chains.

Abdelouahid Lyhyaoui

Abdelouahid Lyhyaoui received an M.S. degree from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, Spain, in 1997 and a PhD from Carlos III University of Madrid, Spain, in 1999. Currently he is a Professor in the Electrical and Industrial Engineering Department at the National School of Applied Sciences, Abdelmalek Essaadi University.

His research interests include intelligent systems, neural networks, machine learning, and data mining and knowledge discovery. From 2001 to 2003, he was a visiting professor at Carlos III University, in Signal Theory and Communications Department. In 2010 and 2011 he was an invited professor at LIPN Laboratory, Paris 13 University.

Abdelfettah Sedqui

Abdelfettah Sedqui received a PhD in Production from INSA de LYON, in 1995/1996. Currently he is a Professor in the Electrical and Industrial Engineering Department at the National School of Applied Sciences, Abdelmalek Essaadi University. His research interests include intelligent systems in supply chains, Industry 4.0, and recommendation systems. He is a member of the Bio- Informatics association MBI.
