Summary

Though beta haemolytic streptococci of Lancefield group B are important in the infectious pathology of the newborn, they are much less common in the adult and for this reason less well-known.

In connection with a case of endocarditis due to streptococci of group B in an adult, we have reviewed the relatively scanty literature on the subject which describes only 38 cases. After defining the populations at special risk and indicating the reservoirs of groupe B streptococci in man, we report a number of uncommon features associated with endocarditis due to this organism and finish by discussine the theraphy.
