Summary
A chronic treatment with subcutaneous injections of Impletol-depot® le to polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) retention in a female patient. PVP deposits I were observed in the liver, the bone marrow and subcutaneous nodules. An acute interstitial pulmonary disease was observed with eosinophils in blood and bronchi, fever and a loss of diffusing capacity i at the singlebreath CO transfer method. Dramatic improvement occurred after steroid therapy.
Despite further advents of PVP with subcutaneous nodules, eosinophilic pulmonary disease did not occur again. Acute eosinophilic pulmonary disease could be an early immunological reaction against foreign substance PVP.
