Summary
A case of bacterial endocarditis due to Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans in a female Patient with a porcine prosthetic mitral valve is rePorted. She was successfully treated with combined ampicillin and gentamicin during 4 weeks followed by ampicillin for an additional 2 weeks. The clinical observation and the bacteriological findings are Presented whereas differentiation from other closely resembling microorganisms, also encoutered in infective endocarditis, is outlined.
