Summary

A patient with an adenocarcinoma of the ovary, associated with sarcoid-like granulomas in the bone marrow is reported. These lesions represent a nonspecific inflammatory reaction, secondary to the presence of the tumour, although no tumour cells are (apparently) present in the bone marrow. The frequency, differential diagnosis and possible pathogenesis of this phenomenon arc discussed.
