The Origin of Immunoglobulin Diversity

Summary

Antibodies and their corresponding immunoglobulins demonstrate an important heterogeneity in their composition. In the past, the origin of this diversity was little understood. The techniques of molecular biology have clarified this problem. We give a brief summary of the most important mechanisms underlying this phenomenon.
