Abstract

A nanocomposite of cementite (Fe3C) nanoparticles and diamond obtained via powder mixed dielectric-electrical discharge machining (PMD-EDM) is investigated. The processed surface morphology exhibits various structures, including a white layer (machined surface) and a heat-affected zone (HAZ). The concentration of the Fe element in the white layer is higher than that in the HAZ. The value of magnetization is about 0.1~0.5 mA/m2. Increasing the frequency of the pulse affects the ferromagnetic behavior of magnets fabricated using the PMD-EDM process.
