On Not Traveling Up Tod Inlet (SṈITȻEȽ)

Abstract

This nonfiction, geographic essay on place is structured as a paean for the multiplicity of Tod Inlet (SṈITȻEȽ), on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, and for what lived and lives in and around it. The essay explores the social and cultural geography, the history, and the cultural significance of a geographic place that has experienced profound changes since colonization. The creative form is meant to respond to and converse with the various voices still present in SṈITȻEȽ’s past and present.

此一关乎地方的非小说地理文章，构组作为对英属哥伦比亚的温哥华岛上的托德湾 （SṈITȻEȽ）之多重性、以及过往和当下生活于其中和周遭者的讚歌。本文探讨一个受到殖民以来经历深刻变迁的地理地方的社会与文化地理、历史，以及文化显着性。该创造性形式意图回应在SṈITȻEȽ的过往和当下仍然续存的各种声音进行，并与之进行对话。

Este ensayo geográfico factual sobre el lugar se estructura como un panegírico por la multiplicidad de Tod Inlet (SṈITȻEȽ), en la Isla de Vancouver, Columbia Británica, y por todo aquello que vivió y vive alrededor suyo. El ensayo explora la geografía social y cultural, la historia y el significado cultural de un lugar geográfico que ha experimentado cambios profundos desde la colonización. Se supone que la forma creativa responda a las varias voces todavía presentes en el pasado y presente de SṈITȻEȽ, y que converse con ellas.
